SteelDays 5k

 The American Fork Steel Days 5k is coming up on Saturday, July 20th. It will begin and end by the Fire Station on 100 N. and Center Streets.

American Fork Cross-country athletes can register and receive a discount on the entry fee by using the code: AF25  go to runtasticevents.com to register.

Also, Registermyathlete must be completed by next Friday in order to go to camp. We will also need the camp fee and permission form turned in before Friday, July 13th. Make a check out for $50 to CAVEMAN TRACK CLUB.

Moratorium

 The UHSAA has a weeklng Moratorium from June 28th through July 4th. Coaches will not be around to meet with the athletes. We will meet again on Friday, July 5th.

 Last  night, alumnus Casey Clinger placed 5th in the 10,000m Run at the US Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon with a time of 27:59.71.  Results

Kaden Evans placed 5th in the 5000m Run at the US U20 Championships in a time of 14:25.88. Results

Noah Nielson placed 9th in the 800m Run at the Brooks PR Invitational in 1:53.90. Results

Carter Moore placed 19th and Maxwell Orr placed 24th in the 5000m Run at Nike Outdoor Nationals with times of 15:02.40 and 15:07.24, respectively. Results

Thursday:

The Boys 4Xmile Relay Team won at Nike Outdoor Nationals with a meet record 17:14.20. Results

Noah  Nielson and Ryker Bement placed 16th and 53rd in the 800m Run at Nike Outdoor Nationals with times of 1:52.34 and 1:57.02, respectively. Results

The Boys 4X800m Relay placed 2nd at Nike Outdoor Nationals with a time of 7:44.35. Results

Saturday:

Daniel Simmons won the 2 mile Run in a meet record 8:38.49 at New Balance Nationals. Results

He came back this afternoon to place 11th in the Mile in 4:07.52. Results

Austin Plewe placed 34th, Ben Bradshae placed 51st, and Ben Jaster placed 54th in the Mile at Nike Outdoor Nationals with times of 4:16.16, 4:20.21, and 4:21.15, respectively. Results

Great Southwest Classic

 At the Great Southwest Classic, held at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, Ryker Miller placed 5th in the Pole Vault competition with a jump of 13-11.25.

Portland Track Festival

 Congratulations to Daniel Simmons. At the Portland Track festival this weekend, Danny set the U.S. National High School Record in the 5000m Run with a time of 13:25.86. That time puts him very close to the opportunity to race at the U.S. Olympic Trials in a few weeks. He is ranked 34th in the US, and the top 30 registrants will be selected to compete.

Hoka Festival of Miles

 Three Cavemen participated last night at the Hoka Festival of Miles in St. Louis, Missouri.

Noah Nielsen placed 2nd in the 800m Run with a time of 1:50.16.

Ben Bradshaw and Ben Jaster placed 12th and 13th, respectively in the Boys Elite Mile with times of 4:12.21, and 4:12.98.

State Results Day 2

 It was a fantastic day to be a Caveman at the Utah State Track and Field Championships at BYU on Saturday.

The Girls Team won their first State Championship since 1993 with 140.5 points; 16.5 points ahead of 2nd place Lone Peak.  The Boys placed 2nd with 85 points; 67 points behind winner Corner Canyon, and 18.5 points ahead of 3rd place Weber. Complete Results

 This Thursday and Saturday is the Utah State Track and Field Championships at Brigham Young University.

The bus leaves AFHS at 8:30 AM on Thursday and 6:45 AM on Saturday.
