The Great Southwest Classic

Three athletes and a coach from American Fork traveled to Albuquerque, New Mexico this weekend  for the Great Southwest Classic. All-Star teams from 12 states competed. Coach Mostert went down as a chaperone and distance coach for the 115 athlete contingent from the Beehive State. Both boys and girls teams finished second: the girls to Colorado and the boys to Arizona. It was the best overall finish by Utah in the 39 year history of the meet.

On Friday night, Connor McMillan placed third and set a new Cavemen record in the 2000m Steeplechase, running 6:12.38, a 15 second PR. An hour later, Brayden McLelland helped the 4X800 Utah B Team place 4th, while Tyson Green helped the 4X800 Utah C Team place 7th.

On a very windy Saturday, Brayden Mclelland placed 4th in the 1-Mile Run with a time of  4:27.93. That evening, Tyson Green placed 5th in the 3200m run with a time of 9:43.50.
