Simplots Games Results - Prelims

 Several Cavemen qualified for Saturday's finals at the Simplot Games, held at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho.

Shay Smith qualified for the first morning finals heat in the 1600m Run, placing 34th in 5:24.48 in the prelims.

Skye Jensen qualified for the seeded finals heat in the 1600m Run, placing 7th in 5:14.70 in the prelims.

Sarah Watson qualified for the Freshman 1600m Run finals, placing 56th overall in 5:40.85 in the prelims.

Haley Whitford qualified for the first morning final heat in the 800m Run in 18th place with a time of 2:25.47.

Dallin Harrington qualified for the second morning finals heat in the 1600m Run, placing 13th in 4:26.22 in the prelims.

Ryker Bement qualified for the seeded finals heat in the 1600m Run, placing 3rd in 4:19.73 in the prelims.

Chase Hejny, David Webb, and Logan Wagstaff all qualified for the Freshman 1600m Run with times of  4:34.14, 4:37.01, and 4:40.49, respectively.

Carter Moore and Austin Plewe both qualified for the 3200m Run final by placing 9th and 13th, respectively in the prelims with times of 9:21.56 and 9:26.29.

 Athletes wishing to compete on the high school track and field team need to get all of their Registermyathlete documentation completed this week. Athletes who participated in a Fall sport do not need another physical exam.

REP Distance Challenge Information

Registration Link 

Athletes need to carpool or find their own rides to the Ice Oval.

$10 per athlete—covers all events registration. Seeding will take place prior on Meettrax. Registration closes Thursday night Feb. 6. All races will be seeded based on entered seed times. Runners with no seed times will be placed in the final heats of each race.

1. This meet is put on in partnership with the Run Elite Program and strives to develop Utah’s distance running talent.
2. We will run the fast heat first in each event. Races will not begin before the scheduled time but may start late based on the number of participants.
3. 3/16-inch pyramid spikes. The same spikes required one week earlier at the Indoor State Meet. Spikes may only be worn on the track surface. Remove your spikes when leaving the track.
4. Athletes need to be at the bullpen for check-in 15 minutes prior to their event. Heat sheets will be posted on Meettrax Friday Morning Feb. 7.
5. Runners from states other than Utah and middle school athletes are invited to participate.
6. The top 6-8 heats of the 400m Dash will be run in lanes with 4 runners per heat. The remaining heats will be waterfall starts with 6-8 runners per heat.
7. The Olympic Oval prohibits any outside food.

 This Friday and Saturday Caveman athletes can participate in the UCCTCA Indoor Invite held at the Kearns Olympic Ice Oval. Registration Information . Please make sure to include American Fork when you register unattached. Remember to sign the Ice Oval waiver (required for entry into the meet).

Weber State Indoor Meet

 We are planning on competing this Saturday at the Weber State Indoor Meet in Ogden. Online Registration is due Wednesday. Registration Link and Schedule

We will need parents to carpool and drive the athletes to Weber State University. We would like to leave AFHS by 8:30 AM (Sprinters in the 55m should leave by 7:15). Coach Mostert will be teaching in Ohio, and will not make the meet.
